Applications for our Lived Experience rōpū
Nōku te Ao is led by those with lived experience of mental distress, and this rōpū was established to provide thought leadership and mentorship to our partners.
In 2018, He Ara Oranga laid down a challenge to improve the mental wellbeing of all Aotearoa. It was made clear that mental health in Aotearoa must take a human rights-based approach involving modern approaches to prevention, care and treatment.
Picking up that challenge, Nōku te Ao: Like Minds was developed as a social movement to end prejudice and discrimination, and increase inclusion for people with experience of mental distress. Nōku te Ao focuses on people who are most affected by mental distress and discrimination, including Māori and Pacific communities.
Nōku te Ao is led by those with lived experience of mental distress. For this reason, the Lived Experience Advisory Rōpū (group/committee) was established to provide thought leadership and mentorship to Nōku te Ao partners.
Be part of the Lived Experience Rōpū.
