Meet Jamie Wise and Charlie Scott, the incredible duo behind the Mad Like Me Podcast. In 2023, Jamie and Charlie received support from our Puna Pūtea Social Action Grants to take their show on the road.
The Mad Like Me Podcast series is best known for amplifying the stories and lived experiences of everyday people through humour and connection. Season 2 kicked off in Tāmaki Makaurau and toured five other destinations across Aotearoa.
Jamie and Charlie are on a mission to end discrimination against those who experience mental distress by showcasing lived experience stories in the hopes of changing attitudes and promoting kindness and inclusion.
“It’s been such an incredible experience so far. Live podcast shows are still quite new, so the audience doesn’t always know what to expect. But the feedback we’ve received has been so beautiful. People have told us that the stories of our guests have been incredibly impactful, and they’re walking away with more knowledge and a deeper understanding of mental health discrimination.” — Jamie Wise
One attendee said, “It’s the most beautiful thing because it makes me feel less alone.”
We sat down with Jamie and Charlie to delve into their journey with the Nōku te Ao Puna Pūtea Social Action Grant.
